Integrating Social networking into Social studies
A closed blog set up for students using Google Sites or Word Press to support learner conversations surrounding activities build into 3D Game Lab. This would be a sort of guild site to post student work for showcasing and collaboration where students can give feedback on various class work practice assignments, share progress, and set goals. I have initially designed this WordPress for adult learners in word press for a training I am doing. However, as my district moves toward Google Apps for Educators I am thinking of recreating the platform in Google Sites when we get students on with their own accounts and e-mails.
Kidblog– A writing project site where students create a blog of a pyramid builder, pharaoh, or other member of ancient Egyptian society. Assignment will be graded using the district assignment rubric. Students will be required to post feedback to at least two students.
Glogster – A project based learning experience using media around the Themes of Geography. Select one of the following civilizations to apply the Themes of Geography to. Rome China India Greece You must have an image attached for each of the five themes. Cite image sources on Glog assignment. You need to add one more box for the 5th Theme and apply the same format as those modeled for you. Glog needs to be free of grammatical errors. Students can view classmates finished products and comment on them.
